“Today is better than Yesterday”

Esayas Adugna lives at Woreda 10, Nifas Silk Lafto Sub-City, Addis Ababa. He is 15 years old now. Adugna lives with his three younger siblings-Taye, Meseret and Weleba who are 13, 10, 6 years old respectively. They lost their mother due to HIV/AIDS. She was sick and bedridden for an extended time before her death. Adugna was 10 and his youngest sister Weleba was 1 when their mother died five years ago. Their father ran away as soon as their mother died. They never heard of his where about. The family used to live in a rented house before the death of their mother.

Blood came out of my private parts

Ten–year–old Emawayish was born and raised in Bichena, Gojam [zone] in the Amhara regional state. She was younger by a year when her father died and a relative from Addis asked her mother to take Emawayish to Addis Ababa promising to send her to school and tend to her as her own child. She claimed that she would not feel lonely if Emawayish lived with her since her husband, a driver, spent most of his time out of the city. Emawayish came to Addis Abeba on 2009.
